He had a busy week with work, school and seminary. Lots of early mornings and late nights. But he survived. He changed his availability at work for next week so maybe they won't work him til 11:30 on a school night.
Maddie I think is liking seminary more after a few days than she did on the first day. It is interesting having 2 kids to get out the door and on their way to seminary by 5:30 am. Wake up is 4:45am every morning. VERY tiring.
This weekend is your mom's weekend so they are over there. Maddie did some babysitting and Zack a bunch of working this weekend. Did I mention Zack makes $9 an hour?! Pretty awesome.
So Chelle and I decided to got to SanAntonio. I called Grandma and told her and she offered to watch Myka but I said come on with us. So we all went and used a few of the free hotel nights I had earned through credit card sign up bonuses. We stayed at Town Place Suites by Marriott. It was a nice hotel. Myka cried until 3am the first night. It was exhausting. We ate lots of food and took a river boat cruise. The food and cruise were not nearly as nice as our Carnival cruise that you went on. Maybe we can all Carnival cruise next summer when you're back home?
We also took a double decker bus tour of San Antonio.
Then Grandma watched Myka while Chelle and I took a Segway tour for an 1 1/2 hours.
That was fun! Pretty easy to ride once you get used to them. I think this should be the next thing for missionaries after you get iPad minis!!!! I think you can go 12 miles on a charge and get out and do some tracking on them. You could ride up to the door and not even get off! What do you think?
Here we are dining outside while a mariachi band played La Cucaracha for us at a river walk restaurant.
And of course no trip to SA would be complete without a stop at Bucee's. Myka talked Grandma into buying her a ball.
How was the fair last Monday! Did you go with members? I imagine it would be expensive. How are your investigators progressing? Overcoming smoking? We pray all the time for you and hope you are well fed and have beautiful weather. It was really hot in San Antonio.
That's about it for here this week. We love and miss you lots. Keep up the good work. Let us know who you found new this week.
Love Dad and family
Graham:
Dad
and Family,
Looks
like ya'll had a blast in San Antonio! I also can't believe how big Myka is
getting and that Zack is getting $9 an hour! Those Segways would be so nice for
missionary work but would probably get stolen or broken. Hopefully we will
get Ipads before I go home. In Everett they have a few double decker community
transit buses. I got the shirts in the mail last week! Thanks! My others ones
were yellow and the fabric is so worn out you can see through it.
This
past week started off roughly. Just about every morning we would wake up and do
service with Br. Grant (our landlord.) We moved enough wood into a dry place to
last us all winter for heat and hot water. We had made it a goal to find 5 new
investigators last week and by Saturday morning we had found none. After doing
service Saturday morning we ate lunch and had 3 hours of studies. By 5 pm we
went out finally to go find some new people to teach. We knocked on a
potential's door and she answered and said to come in. Sadly we didn't have a
third male so we walked to our ward mission leaders house and invited him to
come with us. During the middle of his dinner with his family he got dressed up
and drove us back to her house. We hadher kids sit in on the lesson. She has
had a rough life and is now 32 with 7 kids and a single mom. She and 4 of her
kids are over the age of 8 bringing us to the 5 new investigators goal we had
set. She shared with us her testimony of growing up in ghetto California and
being a floater, but more recently finding Christ. We committed them to come to
church the next day. Sunday came and they called and said they couldn't make
it. Last night we had a lesson with them and found out her most recent ex
husband won't give the kids permission to learn. :( She did take a Book of Mormon
though and her two oldest kids said they would read it with her.
Also
last week Jessica accepted a baptism date for December 27th. She is slowly
stopping smoking. Ray and Miriam didn't come to church again so Sunday night we
stopped by there place and re taught the importance of church. They said they
would come next week and we have another lesson with them tonight.
We
are back out looking for some new people to teach this week. Also tell Chelle
thanks for the talk she sent! It was really good. Right now in my Book of
Mormon reading I'm in Mosiah chapter 18. One of the sister missionaries I
befriended on my mission has a member from my home ward that moved into her
ward. I think it was the Browns? Not sure.
That's
all this week! I love and miss y'all!

Have
some pictures :)
Dad:
Sounds
great! Send more pictures when you get a chance. Don't forget to
get pictures with people you teach and members. I bet the new shirts are
a lot more white than the old ones. We
love and miss u!
Graham: More pictures!
Dad: That's a ton of firewood!! You have a popcorn machine.
Graham: Our
last ward mission leader gave us the popcorn machine. It's a lot smaller then
yours but it works. :)
