Raburn Blog - Dec 16

This is an excerpt from Elder Raburn's blog when Graham was his companion on Whitby Island back in June.

"Well, with the great experiences that I had last week why would I stop? This week I will only tell you about one. Carter. Carter is crazy. We met Carter on the same street that me met those other people last week. That street is just great. Anyway. We were walking by and this guy walks out of the bar and he just starts yelling at us. Elder Feidler starts like booking it down the street! Haha. I just could not stop laughing because when the  guy yelled it was quite loud and a little scary. But it was so funny. Anyway, after Feidler came to his senses Carter yelled back at us to come back and said he wouldn't scare us anymore, so I walked up to him and Feidler slowly followed behind me. I approached this little fence looking that was creating a little back patio for the bar and we were just talking to him over it. He started asking questions with the stench of alcohol present. "What do you guys teach...' he paused for a couple of seconds, so I assumed that this was my queue to start talking, "We teach about the Savior and how he..." "DO NOT FINISH MY SENTENCES!" I jumped like 3 feet, he scared me so badly. Then he would calm down. "I was going to say what do you teach about being drunk and being an alcoholic." So the conversation progressed, Elder Feidler was way quiet for a bit. So then Carter looked at him, pointed and said, "Where did you come from?" Elder Feidler looked all confident and said "We believe we came from God." Carter stared at him blankly and then yelled, "AN ACTUAL LOCATION WOULD BE APPRECIATED AT THIS TIME, THANK YOU." Bless Elder Feidler's heart. He was trying his best. Then later on he asked us to tell him about why we were here. I then started to tell him our purpose as missionaries, he of course interrupted. "You need to shut up. Look at this face" Pointing at Elder Feidler's confused face "This man right here. He. HE. HE IS A BEAUTIFUL SON OF GOD. You. You are not." Haha. Wow. Why do drunk people love Elder Feidler so much? I wish they had those same feelings for me. But I guess I have some time to build that kind of relationship with them."
